Real Talk is actively recruiting FIVE leadership positions, including two Co-presidents, one secretary, one recruitment coordinator, and one communication and marketing liaison. All applications must be submitted by November 30th, 2021. Each position requires 5-8 hours per month, including attendance at Real Talk Meetings. The term length of each position runs from September – August. Positions have a 3-term limit, and candidates will need to reapply each term. Real Talk Leadership Application
REAL TALK CO- PRESIDENTS
As we think about our next stage of growth, we seek TWO Co-Presidents who have strong collaboration skills and a strategic mindset, capable of assisting achieve the mission and values of Real Talk. You will be successful in this role if you can assess new opportunities, nurture a culture of collaboration, and can problem-solve to help position the group for growth. An ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with a passion for promoting a substance-free culture throughout the Vernon community.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Work closely with members of Real Talk and the Vernon ROCKS Coalition to ensure the achievement of The Vernon ROCKS mission.
- Represent Real Talk during the coalition’s monthly meeting (3rd Wednesday of every month at 2:15 PM) and report out on the groups current efforts and accomplishments.
- Provide leadership to the other Real Talk members to develop tactics and implement substance use prevention strategies appropriate for the Real Talk group.
- Provide leadership that supports a culture that embraces teamwork, transparency, seamless communication, and high levels of morale.
- Preside at Real Talk meetings in conjunction with the other CO-President and Coalition Staff, ensuring agenda items are discussed.

SECRETARY
The Real Talk Secretary plays an integral role in the groups functioning. In this role, you will act as an information and reference point for the group. Responsible for maintaining organized documentation and communication for Real Talk to help position the group for growth. An ideal candidate will be committed to the mission and values of Real Talk and is essential in the group’s success.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Real Talk secretary include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for taking minutes at every Real Talk meeting and sending them to coalition staff in a prompt manner. If the secretary needs to miss a meeting, they will be responsible for finding an interim secretary to take minutes.
- Maintains a roster of members including email, and telephone information, with knowledge of individual members preferred contact methods.
- Maintaining communication between the Real talk members to inform and confirm their attendance for upcoming Real Talk meetings and events. (This may include emails, text messages, and phone calls).
- The Real Talk Secretary will be responsible for relaying student communication to coalition staff.

REAL TALK RECRUITMENT COORDINATOR
Real Talk is looking for a charismatic and informed Recruitment Coordinator to help expand and capture a large, diverse membership. The Real Talk Recruitment Coordinator will achieve membership objectives by recruiting diverse subpopulations of Rockville High School student body to become active members in the group. This role is instrumental in the expansion of Real Talk. The Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for advocating and developing opportunities to access and recruit different students in the high school, correctly conveying the goals and values of the group. This position is only open to candidates who currently attend Rockville High School.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Attends community and school events that present opportunities for recruitment.
- Communicate and networks to increase Real Talk membership
- Represents Real Talk in a professional manner
- Ideal candidates can effectively communicate with diverse populations
- Build and maintains mutually beneficial and collaborative relationships with other clubs and groups in the school to expand the network of Real Talk and the Vernon ROCKS Coalition.

COMMUNICATION AND MARKETING LIAISON
The Real Talk Communication and Marketing Liaison serves as the contact point between Real Talk and Rockville High School. This position facilitates communication and serves as a representative of the group, while coordinating information dissemination. Additionally, The Communication and Marketing Liaison will assist in content creation for marketing purposes to increase brand awareness and disseminate resources and information throughout the Vernon Community. This position is only open to candidates who currently attend Rockville High School.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Effectively and professionally communicate information, events, and other related information to the appropriate networks within the high school
- Responsible for assigned content creation that will be utilized on multiple platforms including but not limited to social media, web-based content, and in print.
- Maintains relationships that enhance our communication efforts
